What personal data TCL collects and why TCL collects it
When visitors leave comments on the site TCL collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Once an user subscribes, TCL retains the following information about the user:
- The email address of the subscriber
- The date at which the user subscribed
- IP address of the subscriber
How long TCL retains your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so TCL can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. For subscriptions, TCL keeps the associated data for one year, after which subscribers will be asked if they wish to continue being subscribed.
Additionally, all users can see or edit their personal information at any time, and everyone has the right to cancel subscription in their profile at any time. Profile is accessible through the ‘Welcome’ email that TCL sends upon registering. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data TCL holds about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that TCL erases any personal data TCL holds about you. This does not include any data TCL is obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where TCL sends your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Besides that, data is never provided to other parties or sites.
